Sony has revealed two limited-edition DualSense wireless controllers themed around Grand Theft Auto VI, with black and white versions scheduled to launch alongside the game on November 19, 2026. Preorders open September 10, giving PlayStation 5 players a GTA VI hardware option before the game arrives.
The controllers are collectibles, not required accessories for GTA VI. Sony lists a recommended retail price of $84.99 in the United States, with regional pricing of ¥12,480, €84.99 and £74.99. Availability differs between the two designs, so buyers should check the PlayStation Direct or participating-retailer rules for their region before preorder day.
Two designs, with different availability
Both controllers use GTA VI artwork and details inspired by the game's Vice City setting. Sony says the designs include color-shifting finishes, palm-tree details and Grand Theft Auto VI branding. The black version and the white version share the same standard DualSense feature set; the announcement is about their exterior treatment rather than a new controller specification.
Preorders are due to begin on September 10 at 10 a.m. local time through PlayStation Direct where that storefront operates. In the United States, Sony gives the Direct timing as 7 a.m. Pacific / 10 a.m. Eastern. The company says the black controller will be exclusive to PlayStation Direct where available, with selected retailers carrying it in some markets. The white version is planned for PlayStation Direct and participating retailers more broadly.
That makes the color choice more than cosmetic from a buying perspective. A player who wants the black model may have a narrower purchase route than someone targeting the white controller.
The controllers launch with GTA VI
Sony says both limited-edition controllers begin launching on November 19, the same date Rockstar has announced for Grand Theft Auto VI. Rockstar's own material confirms the game is planned for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on that date.
The shared date does not mean the controller is bundled with the game, and Sony's announcement does not present either model as necessary for any GTA VI feature. They are conventional DualSense controllers with a limited-edition design, sold separately.
For anyone considering a preorder, the important dates are therefore September 10 for orders and November 19 for launch. The main uncertainty is stock: limited-edition PlayStation hardware can vary by region and retailer, and Sony's announcement does not promise how many units will be available. Checking the local PlayStation Direct listing or participating retailer before the preorder window opens is the safest way to avoid assuming a model will be sold everywhere.
The launch timing also gives buyers a clean way to separate the accessory decision from the game purchase. Someone who already owns a working DualSense can play GTA VI without buying either special edition, while collectors can pursue the controller independently.
