Polyphony Digital has outlined Gran Turismo 7 Spec IV, a free expansion arriving in two parts during October and December 2026. Across the two updates, the studio says GT7 will add two circuits and 12 cars, alongside new modes and another evolution of its GT Sophy racing AI.
The split matters because not every announced feature arrives at once. October is built around Sportsland SUGO and the first six cars, while December adds Autumn Ring, another six cars and several larger mode changes. Polyphony has not given exact release dates for either part yet.
October starts Spec IV at Sportsland SUGO
The first Spec IV update is scheduled for October. Polyphony says it will add Sportsland SUGO, a Japanese circuit that has not previously appeared in Gran Turismo 7, plus six new cars. The update will also begin a new Spec IV opening presentation and introduce features including Vintage, Car Concierge, Experience and Car Viewer.
The October update is also set to raise the Collector Level cap. That gives long-running players another progression target without making the new track or cars paid additions; Polyphony describes both Spec IV releases as free updates for Gran Turismo 7.
More detail is due during the Gran Turismo World Series event in Singapore on October 3. That should be the next official checkpoint for precise car lists and any timing information that Polyphony chooses to confirm.
December adds Autumn Ring and new race modes
The second part is planned for December. Its headline circuit is Autumn Ring, a returning Gran Turismo track, accompanied by six more cars. Polyphony also lists Family mode, Shuffle Race and Online Drift Trial for the December update.
GT Sophy is due another evolution in the same phase, and the Power Pack will gain a new difficulty level. Sony's PlayStation Blog summary mirrors the two-stage roadmap, reinforcing that the 12-car total and two circuits are spread across the October and December releases rather than delivered in one patch.
The announcement gives GT7 players a broad late-2026 roadmap without locking Polyphony into exact patch days. That makes it worth separating confirmed content from dates that have not been announced: October means Sportsland SUGO and the first six cars; December means Autumn Ring, six more cars and the larger group of new modes.
Until Polyphony publishes the full patch notes, there is no reason to infer exact vehicle lists, event counts or release-day times beyond what the official roadmap states. The next concrete update should come around the October 3 World Series stop, where the developer has promised more Spec IV information.
The two-part structure also helps frame the scale of Spec IV correctly. It is a substantial free roadmap, but the announcement is not one giant December-only expansion and it is not a promise that every feature will be available in October. Players returning specifically for a track or mode should check which half contains it before planning around the update.
Gran Turismo 7 remains available on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. Polyphony's announcement concerns free software updates for the existing game; it does not introduce a separate Spec IV edition that owners need to buy.
