Sony has scheduled two State of Play broadcasts back-to-back for Thursday, September 3, giving PlayStation players a global showcase followed immediately by a Japan- and Asia-focused presentation. The streams are due to start at 6:00am PT, 9:00am ET and 10:00pm JST on YouTube and Twitch.
The first State of Play will cover updates and announcements from PlayStation Studios and third-party partners. Sony says it will finish with an extended look at Final Fantasy VII Revelation from Square Enix. State of Play Japan will then follow, again hosted by Yuki Kaji, with new gameplay, announcements and deeper dives from studios in Japan and elsewhere in Asia.
Two shows with different jobs
The split is more useful than treating the event as one long mystery box. The opening broadcast is the broader PlayStation program: first-party material can appear alongside third-party games, and Sony has already named Final Fantasy VII Revelation as the closing feature. That removes one piece of guesswork while leaving the rest of the lineup unannounced.
The second broadcast has a narrower editorial focus. Sony says State of Play Japan will highlight upcoming games from creators in Japan and Asia. It will be presented in Japanese with English subtitles, while the first State of Play will air in English with Japanese subtitles available.
Sony's State of Play page also confirms that both broadcasts will be available through YouTube and Twitch. One wrinkle is worth flagging rather than hiding: PlayStation's product page has displayed inconsistent CEST conversions in different parts of the page, while the Blog announcement states 3:00pm CEST. The PT, ET and JST times are consistent across Sony's information, so viewers in Europe should check the live listing for their local start time rather than rely on a copied conversion.
What is actually confirmed
The temptation around every State of Play is to turn silence into a prediction list. Sony has not announced the complete game roster, so there is no solid basis for declaring that a particular unmentioned project will appear. What is confirmed is the structure: two consecutive shows, a mix of PlayStation Studios and third-party updates in the first, a Japan-and-Asia focus in the second, and an extended Final Fantasy VII Revelation segment.
That makes September 3 unusually dense for PlayStation news even before the unknown announcements are counted. Players who only care about the broader showcase can watch the opening program; people following Japanese and Asian developers have a second, more targeted stream immediately afterward.
Sony has also warned creators that licensed material, including music, may complicate co-streaming and archived video. For ordinary viewers, the simpler plan is just to use the official YouTube or Twitch broadcasts. The next step is the broadcast itself on September 3; until then, the rest of the lineup remains deliberately unconfirmed.
The timing also makes the pair easier to follow as one event rather than two disconnected announcements. Sony is effectively using the first stream for the wider PlayStation audience and the second for a regional development focus, while keeping both accessible to international viewers through subtitles. That is a clearer promise than the usual pre-show rumour pile: there will be two distinct editorial blocks, not just a longer version of the same presentation.
